Who I work with
Therapy works best when it's not generic. Here's who tends to find the most value in working together.
Anxiety that won't quiet down
A major life transition
Grief or loss
Relationship strain, alone or as a couple
Burnout and overwhelm
Trauma you're ready to process, with EMDR
Elena Marsh, LMFT
I've been practicing therapy in Asheville for twelve years, working primarily with adults and couples navigating anxiety, life transitions, and relationship strain. I came to this work after my own experience in therapy showed me what a difference it makes to be genuinely heard by someone trained to help you make sense of it.
Sessions with me tend to feel more like an honest conversation than a clinical appointment. I ask direct questions, I'll challenge you when it's useful, and I move at a pace that respects how hard this can be.
Before opening my practice, I spent four years at a community mental health center working primarily with couples and trauma survivors — experience that shaped how I practice today: structured where structure helps, flexible everywhere else.

My Approach
I work from a person-centered, trauma-informed lens, drawing on EMDR when it's a good fit. That means we move at your pace, and the plan adjusts as we go rather than following a rigid script.
A quiet room, above the noise.
Sessions happen in a private, sunlit room — comfortable, unhurried, and away from anything that feels clinical. It's a space built for conversations that take their time.

Weekly or biweekly sessions focused on anxiety, life transitions, and personal growth.
Couples Therapy

What clients say
Elena created a space where I finally felt like I could say the hard things out loud. Twelve years of avoiding therapy, and I wish I'd started with her sooner.
We came in barely speaking to each other. Six months later, we actually listen. That's not nothing.
The EMDR work was hard, but it was the first thing that actually helped with something I'd carried for years.

Yes — most clients do a mix of in-person and virtual sessions over secure telehealth video, depending on the week.
The first session runs about 60 minutes and focuses on understanding your history and what's bringing you in. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to.
That's exactly what the free 15-minute consultation call is for — no obligation either way. And if we start working together and it's not clicking, I'll say so and help you find someone who might be a better match.
It depends on what brings you in — some clients come for a focused handful of sessions around a specific transition, others prefer ongoing weekly support. We'll talk about what makes sense for you as we go.
I ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancellations and no-shows are billed at the full session rate.
Yes, I currently have availability for new individual and couples clients.
